Moving day?!

It's entirely possible that I'll switch this back, but for the time being I'm experimenting with Tumblr as the home for my domain name ( as Blogger is... well... it's okay but...

Look, the best part about a-being a woman is my prerogative to have a little Tumblr. Okay? Okay.

So this place might be quiet for a bit, or for a long time, or forever. Who knows? In any case, will always point to me and my ongoing ridiculous life.

Pope's resignation letter

The Vatican, Vatican City

Supreme Being

Dear Mr God,
I regret to inform you that I am resigning from my position as Pope for the Catholic Church. My last day of employment will be February 28th.
I have recently rediscovered my love of not being a child molestation sympathiser and as such, I'm now wondering what the hell I'm doing in this job. Also, my mate works at Staples and reckons he can get me a job in the storeroom.
Thank you for the support and the opportunities that you have provided me during the last several years. I have enjoyed my tenure with the company. I'll miss the company car, but I'm not all that keen on kissing the ground in every country I visit. Once, an ant almost crawled up my nostril and I freaked out. So, sorry I wasn't as enthusiastic as JP.
I wish you and the company all the best. I do hope our paths cross again in the future. Unless, of course, you're fictional. Imagine that.

I haven't actually, properly blogged in ages. Today, it seemed like a good idea to rectify that.

Unfortunately, I have literally nothing to say. Apart from what I just said.

Timebadger up for pre-order!

That's right, dudes. If a mere 25 of you pre-order my toy Timebadger, he will officially go into production! You can order him in colour or plain white (for those of you who enjoy customising your toys) and a 3D printed figure will be sent to you along with a little something extra, exclusively for the pre-order crowd. This will likely be a badger sketch from yours truly!

To say I'm excited about this is an understatement. I'm a toy freak. One of my all-time goals in my career has been to have a toy made of one of my characters, so the fact that if Timebadger goes ahead, his companion Convenient Steven and arch-nemesis Foxton J Culworthy may well be next on the production line is enough to make my head pop.

Now, I know what you're saying (weird, eh?): "Oh, there's only a picture of the character, how do we know what the toy looks like?" Well, I flatter myself that the way I've rendered the character is pretty close to a 3D model and Shouldbee (the manufacturer) have a damn good track record of making the toy look very, very close to the artwork (in many cases, much better than the artwork). In fact, they've made toys for Paradox Interactive (The company behind such games as Magicka, War of the Roses etc.), Ace Team (Zeno Clash) as well as Gaslamp Games (Dungeons of Dredmor) and many other partners. You can check out their production portal here:

So rest assured, you will receive the design on the pre-order page.

If this toy doesn't meet your cute threshold (and how could that be? He's adorable), then be sure to share this link and help me to get the necessary 25 pre-orders so Timebadger can also be made into a PLUSHIE! Yep! A cuddly, time-travelling badger. This will only happen if the initial toy receives 25 pre-orders before February 28th, so don't hang around.

All the details are on the Shouldbee site, just follow the link! You can pay using credit card (you will only be charged if the toy goes into production) or PayPal (e-mail for details).

So do yourself (and me) a favour and purchase a small toy badger. It'll make your day.

Awww, lookedim! Couldn't you just see him on your shelf?

Foxton - the next Timebadger toy?

Or could Convenient Steven be next...?

Rocketeer by JAM-WAH

Rocketeer, a photo by JAM-WAH on Flickr.
It only occurred to me relatively recently that despite my comic book background and my retro geometric art style, I've never drawn The Rocketeer.

This might not appear to be as incredibly painstakingly thought out as it actually is, but believe me, there were construction lines EVERYWHERE as I was creating this, so almost every line converges or points to another shape. Not that it matters, of course...

More vinyl toy designs

I love vinyl toys. If I could afford to buy them, I would. Sadly, I drink too much beer and thus my money is limited (maybe I should stop drinking and just collect toys), but some of the designs are incredible. The thrill of a blind-packed collectible is far more than any adult can take. Right? Just me? Oh, Christ.

But anyway, I've been meaning to create at least one for ages, but never had the means or the knowledge to do so. That said, I'm going to learn very soon. New Year resolution and all that... In the meantime, I have that Timebadger design at Shouldbee as mentioned last month (still up for voting, incidentally! VOTE!) and there are some additional designs related to Timebadger, his companion Convenient Steven and his arch-nemesis Foxton J Culworthy. If the Shouldbee campaign is successful, I'll submit these new characters. The construction would be beyond me for a while even if I was to learn the techniques involved right now, so I hope Shouldbee works out.

In the meantime, I'm going to get working on simpler designs for my own amusement (when I have any spare time...)

I would also recommend you check out these guys for some excellent toy designs and news:

P.S. Thanks to Chris Howker for the metaphorical kick up the arse and for creating awesome stuff.
